Who We Are
For the last 20 years, Willington Hall has been owned and run by Stuart and Diana Begbie and their family, who have four generations’ worth of experience in the hotel and hospitality industries.
Both Diana and Stuart are members of the Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne, the official fraternity of the major Champagne brands. Its mission is to promote the variety, versatility, taste and other unique characteristics that make Champagne wines synonymous with success and celebration everywhere. The owners are also members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an International Association of Gastronomy, now established in over 80 countries, which brings together enthusiasts sharing the same values of quality, fine dining, the encouragement of the culinary arts and the pleasures of the table.
Diana, who trained in Switzerland, has won many prestigious awards throughout her career, the most notable being invited to join The Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, an exclusive bacchanalian fraternity of Burgundy wine enthusiasts. A real honour - especially for an English lady.
Using their knowledge and expertise, Diana and Stuart have restored the estate’s buildings and gardens to its former glory and beyond; they’ve even given Begbie family names to two new areas - the Hamilton’s Suite (formerly laundry cottages) and the Richmond Room.
