Shire Horse Centre
Only a couple of miles from the hotel, the shire horse centre has a wonderful selection of this enigmatic breed of horse, as well as many other British animals and rare breeds. Whilst you are there you can pop into the Alvanley Arms and enjoy suitable refreshments in a traditional pub.

Mouldsworth Motor Museum
Featuring a huge array of vintage cars and automobile memorabilia, the motor museum has regular talks and events to interest the motoring enthusiast. Open Sundays and Bank holidays from February until November. Admission £4.00 for Adults and £2.00 for children.

Chester Zoo
Visit the world renowned zoo, with a huge and varied array of animals, set out in some of the best enclosures of any zoo. May we recommend the bat house, for an interestingly interactive zoo exhibit! Other events that they hold include their winter frost fayre, featuring an outside ice rink. Admission is £14.50 for adults and £11.30 for children.

Ice cream farms
There are two ice cream farms within a few miles of the hotel, both are – for obvious reasons – very successful.
‘Cheshire Farm’ ice cream, near Tattenhall, makes traditional high quality ice cream, which you may know if you have been on British Airways. The farm also features a petting zoo and a display of owls and falcons.

‘Snugburys’ ice cream make their high quality ice cream from Jersey cows, giving it a distinct and delicious flavour and texture. The farm has also become nationally famous for their themed straw sculptures, from the ‘millennium cone’ to this years ‘Big Ben’, they’ll bring a smile to your face.
The Chocolate Shop
For those of you who need to yield to temptation try the chocolate shop in Tarporley, from cakes to truffles its naughty but nice. For birthday parties or other occasions they also do truffle making classes, where you get to keep what you make!
